Ring Size Guide (UK Sizes)
Ring size becomes a problem especially when you are buying a ring as a gift for someone who is not with you in a jewellery store. Or it often becomes a problem when you are buying a ring online. There are various methods to measure your precise ring size. When measuring your ring size you must be aware of two terms:
- Diameter: is the distance across the middle inside.
- Circumference: is the length around the circle.
You must be aware of the diameter and the circumference because all the standards that you will see describe the size in terms of diameter and circumference. Different countries have different rules and standards for the ring size. In UK, both diameter and the circumference are measured in mm; millimeters.
How to measure your own ring size is a typical questions asked by many buyers. For measuring the ring size for your finger, follow these easy steps.
- First of all, cut a narrow strip from a paper which should not be more than .25 inches.
- Gently wrap the paper around your finger.
- Mark the strip where it meets with a pen.
- Measure the length you marked which will give you the circumference of your finger.
- Divide the circumference by 3.14 to get the diameter of your finger.
- When you have calculated the diameter and the circumference of your finger, then match it with the one shown in the table given below to know your ring size. Please note that all the measurement should be done in millimeters. Different countries have different names for different sizes in terms of diameters and circumference. In some countries, diameter and circumference is measure in inches, rather than millimeters. The table below is made according to UK ring sizes.

With the help of the above table and the ring size finding strategies, you can easily find the appropriate ring for you even if you buying it without seeing it though the internet. If, by chance, your size falls in between two of the above mentioned sizes, then it is always recommended to take a larger size instead of buying the smaller one. For example if the circumference of your finger is 74.5, then it would be advisable for you to buy a Z+5 ring i.e., a ring with a circumference of 75. There are various websites on the internet that can help you determining your ring size online. |
